Feb 23, 2026

Why This Supports Liver & Detox

  • Sardines provide omega-3 fatty acids that help reduce hepatic inflammation and support lipid metabolism, particularly relevant in fatty liver risk.
  • Fennel contains compounds that support digestive function and may assist bile flow.
  • Capers and tomatoes provide polyphenols that reduce oxidative stress, protecting liver cells during detoxification activity.
  • This traybake supports bile function, inflammatory balance and antioxidant protection.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

2 tins sardines
1 fennel bulb, sliced
150g cherry tomatoes
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp capers
Juice of ½ lemon
Black pepper

Method

Preheat the oven to 190°C.

Arrange the fennel and cherry tomatoes on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil. Roast for 15 minutes until softened.

Add the sardines and capers to the tray and return to the oven for a further 5–7 minutes until heated through.
