Creamy Oat, Apple & Walnut Breakfast Bake

Why This Supports Heart Health & Cholesterol

  • Oats are one of the most evidence-backed cholesterol-lowering foods due to beta-glucan, a viscous soluble fibre that reduces intestinal cholesterol absorption and increases bile acid excretion.
  • Regular beta-glucan intake can reduce LDL cholesterol by 5–10%.
  • Apples provide pectin — another soluble fibre — alongside quercetin, which supports endothelial integrity and reduces oxidative stress.
  • Walnuts contain plant sterols and ALA, helping to reduce LDL cholesterol and improve lipid ratios.
  • This is daily, practical LDL reduction.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

200g rolled oats
1 tsp cinnamon
2 apples, chopped
50g walnuts, chopped
500ml almond milk
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp ground flaxseed

Method

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Combine oats, cinnamon, flaxseed and baking powder.

Stir in the chopped apple, walnuts, milk and maple syrup.

Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake 30–35 minutes until golden and set.

Serve warm.
