Cabbage is as cheap as chips, easy to grow, a wonderfully tasty green, and so much more than the soggy stink bomb you get when you boil them to death.

Cellular spring cleaning

I don’t believe in faddy detox diets, but the body does detoxify itself. Every second of every day, every cell is breaking down and removing waste products. Cabbages, like all of the Brassica family, are packed with compounds such as isothiocyanates (try saying that backwards!), which actually increase the levels of some of the enzymes involved in this process.

Heart & circulation

Some of the phytochemical compounds in cabbage are known to reduce the levels of a substance called homocysteine, which has been linked with increased risk of heart disease.
