Medicinal Properties

Artichokes

Artichokes are a rich source of caffeoylquinic acid, which is known to increase both the production of bile and also the rate at which it is released from the gall bladder. Bile is one of the major transport mechanisms for fat-soluble toxins. Increasing their rate of removal can help to keep the skin clear. Bile is also vitally important in the correct digestion and utilization of dietary fats. Increasing the absorption of good fats can give the skin a plump dewy texture and increase its ability to hold onto moisture. Good all round.

Olives

Olives have long been associated with beauty and skin health. They are a very rich source of the antioxidant nutrient vitamin E. Vitamin E helps to reduce free radical damage within fatty tissues and cell membranes, so may be a vital nutrient for reducing skin ageing and improving overall skin appearance.
