Integrated healthcare - Is this REALLY going to be the future??

General Nonsense >>

Sadly there are a miriad of "doctor bashers" within the natural health field. As much as I can understand it, Im not sure that it does us any good. I have been treated by some God awful doctors, but at the same time, I have been treated by some absolutely wonderfully gifted people too. I have several friends who are GP's who are so incredibly switched on to natural approaches to healthcare. These people are the same age as me and of a newer generation of docs. They too appreciate the benefits that our methods offer.

My ideal scenario is an integrated healthcare system where both conventional and natural healthcare modalities are available to patients. I feel that emergency care is not even relevant to us in any way. If you are hit by a bus, there is sod all that a herbalist will be able to do....(apart from phone an ambulance when he stops freaking out). This is where modern medicine really works its miracles - and they really ARE miracles.

However, when it comes to the management of day to day chronic complaints like asthma, eczema, hypertension, and arthritis, conventional medicine pale's into insignificance when compared to natural methods. It is in this area that we have the greater capacity to make a difference.

It saddens me that this type of integration is unlikely to occur 100% in my lifetime. As long as massive corporations can profit from people being sick (how many drug companies would go bust if people get better???), such a healthcare system will be a mere ideology!
