Food
Dairy, calcium, and a whole host of LIES |

We have all had it drummed into us over the years that consuming dairy produce is the key to getting your daily requirements for calcium, and that these foods are a nutritional powerhouse and vital for us. Isnt it then somewhat ironic that countries such as the UK and the USA that have the highest dairy intake in the world, also have the highest incidence of osteoporosis!! In comparison, countries such as china where dairy consumption is almost nonexistant, osteoporosis is incredibly rare.
This is because we have all been lied to! Much of this miseducation has, admittedly come from a far too simplistic understanding of the way in which foods actually behave in the body.
If we are to take a sample of milk to a laboratory, and break it down into its constituent parts, then we will most certainly find that there is a high percentage of calcium present. This does in no way mean that this calcium will automatically be absorbed and put into use in our bodies.
Dairy products basically cause our system to become acidic. Any change in the acid/alkaline balance in the body, can have extremely dangerous concequences, so our bodies have a very tightly controlled defence mechanism against such changes occurring. The fastest way for our bodies to neutralise any excessive acidity arising from consuming acid forming foods, is to leach calcium from the skeleton. Calcium's high alkalinity almost immediately buffers this acidic state of being. Now it doesnt take Einstein to work out that a continual consumption of acid forming foods will lead to a notable decrease of bone density and calcium stores.
Im not saying never let another piece of cheese pass your lips, just be conscious about what you are putting into your body on a regular basis. An occassional treat is great, but mindless habit driven consumption can only lead us we are headed!!
